The JKL Dolphins claimed game 1 of the National Basketball League (NBL) semi-finals playoffs against nemesis UCU Lady Canons in Wandegeya at a packed YMCA court.

The 2021 champions, JKL Dolphins, won 60-48 and now take a 1-0 lead in the series, which will be decided on a best of 5 criteria.

Rita Imanishimwe was in her menacing mode, dropping 20 points on the night. Hope Akello provided defensive cover on the other side of the ball, accumulating 7 defensive boards, 3 turnovers and 2 steals.

The Dolphins took their chances well on the night, getting 25 points off turnovers against 14 points from the UCU Lady Canons.

In the later game, the KIU Titans reigned supreme over the UCU Canons in the first game of their five-game semifinal series.

After a tight first quarter where both teams were separated by one point, the Titans pulled away in Q2 and went into halftime leading 45-34.

There was no stopping them from here on, and the Kansanga side had an 86-72 win to lead the series 1-0.
