In what was thought to be a big day, it turned into total drama as the 2023 final repeat became impossible after that year’s Champions Ngonge failed to have a Matchday squad.
The hoped-for massive game at Lubiri SS only lasted for 2 minutes after Ngonge, who came with only 7 players, lost goalkeeper Michael Lutaya to injury, causing the game to end prematurely.
Besides Ngonge’s player saga, Mbogo managed more than the needed players, but they nearly delayed the game after coming without enough stockings for the match.
At the match, Ngonge, who failed to have a full team due to ongoing club engagements, had some players, but they were not fit to play as they had not yet received licenses, though their requests were submitted, as hidden sources revealed.
With the game’s fate unknown, in group B, Mbogo remains at the top of the group with a 5-goal difference, bettering Nkusu, who they are tied with on 6 points; Nkusu has a 3-goal difference.
In group F, Nyonyi Nyange and Kasumba did not play, as both teams had to face off in the group-deciding game at Buzinga Islamic.
In group G, Omutima Omuyanja defeated Kibe 4-0 in the hope that Nkerebwe, who did not show up against them on Friday, May 15 at Kibuli SS, will continue to hide, hoping that they have progressed to the round of 16.
After some minutes, news stormed in that Nkima had played and defeated Nkerebwe 9-0 to qualify for the knockout stage with maximum points in 3 games.
In group D, Kinyomo and Njobe did not play as they both had no chances to progress. In the group, Mbwa led with 7 points after a 0-0 draw with Mpindi, who finished with 5 points.
In group A, Ffumbe defeated Musu 2-0 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Wakisha in Wakiso to lead the group with maximum points in three games.
In the same group, the Butiko and Nte game also got abandoned after 47 minutes of play when Butiko were leading 3-0 before Nte players were reduced to less than the minimum.
In group E, Njovu overturned their fortunes after beating Mpeewo 4-0 to lead the group with 5 points. Lugave won 1-0 over Nvuma, who led after the second game with 4 points.
Njovu, who won only one game, progressed on a goal difference of 4 after tying with Lugave on 5 points.
In Group H, Nakinsige secured enough results to lead the group with 7 points after drawing 1-1 with Olulyo Olulangira, who stopped with 5 points. Ngaali defeated Ntalaganya 2-1.
