Four-time Uganda Premier League outfit URA FC have signed former UPDF FC star Ibrahim Wammanah, making him their sixth signing in the ongoing transfer window.
Wammanah left the army side after three years, during which time he captained the team for the past two campaigns.
He joins a URA squad that is already brimming with new talent, including Denis Luzige Kisiriko, John Innocent Kisolo, Bwangani Amis, and Godfrey Sekibengo, as well as the versatile Moses Okabo Aliro.
The 27-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Nakawa-based club, sealing his position in the squad until at least 2025.
“It’s a big privilege to join URA FC because it’s a big team, and when such an opportunity comes, you have to take it up,” Wammanah was quoted by the club media.
“I’m sure with the quality of players around, we shall realize our ambitions of winning trophies,” he confidently remarked.
Wammanah is a versatile midfielder who can play in a number of positions, and he is expected to add a lot of creativity and dynamism to the URA midfield.
He has a wealth of experience in the Ugandan Premier League, having also played for Proline FC and KCCA FC in the past.
His signing is a major coup for URA, and it shows that the club is serious about challenging for trophies in the upcoming season.
