Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial, and the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations have opened up an engagement for basketball games on the stadium’s courts.
The stadium, located in the heart of Uganda’s capital, Kampala, has two standard courts for sports like basketball, netball, and volleyball.
For basketball, it is going on record this weekend for Nakivubo to host league games with 20 matches from basketball divisions one and two, with each court honouring ten games across the two days of the weekend, as Lower Divisions League Manager Brian Rugyendo explains.
“We are delighted to announce the development of having basketball games at Hamz Stadium. We are starting our partnership this weekend with 20 games; our fixtures have ten games on Saturday and ten more on Sunday, meaning each court will have five games a day.”
Forwarding to the partnership, FUBA President Nasser Sserunjogi has promised more engagement with the stadium, which is ranked suitable even for the top division.
“This is just the beginning; we are not here for the short term; we are here for a long-term program. This time we are hosting the lower division league, but we will also bring some games from our National Basketball League.”
At the press conference held in the stadium’s press area, the stadium management was represented by the stadium’s assistant manager, Hakim Kasirye, who noted;
“Since Hamz Stadium’s purpose is to develop sports, we are happy to have FUBA in our program, and we are going to offer free parking and lower-priced tickets for basketball games in order to allow people to come and enjoy the games.”
