Olila CC won by 53 Runs

Olila Cricket Club made a strong start to their 2026 Cricket Uganda Women’s National T20 League Division One campaign with a comfortable 53 run victory over Jinja SSS at the Jinja SSS Oval on Saturday.

The Soroti-based side was inspired by Esther Iloku, Malisa Ariokot and Lorna Anyait with the ball, whose all-round contributions proved too much for the hosts.

Olila’s innings got off to a shaky start as they lost Agwang Lucky and Asumin Akurut early, slipping to 7 for 2. But Iloku and Ariokot steadied the innings with a crucial partnership that put the visitors back in control.

Iloku struck a well-made 50 off 41 balls, hitting eight boundaries before becoming the third wicket to fall with the score on 93. Ariokot carried on the good work, finishing unbeaten on 53 from 47 deliveries, including five fours.

With support from Anyait, who added an unbeaten eight from six balls, Olila posted 124 for 5 in their 20 overs.

Jinja SSS needed a positive start in reply but instead found themselves under pressure from the outset. Immaculate Nandera removed Stephanie Nampina and Elizabeth Acheng early to leave the hosts struggling at 12 for 2.

Anyait then took charge with the ball. The all-rounder bowled a brilliant spell of 3 for 5 from four overs, dismissing Hope Shillah Mbeiza, Asha Mukite and Tahia Nassuna as Jinja’s chase lost momentum.

Mukite’s 16 and Rashidah Tikabula’s 15 were the highest scores for the hosts, but neither could spark a recovery. Sarah Akiteng and Nyamer Devine Gabriella chipped in with a wicket each as Jinja finished on 71 for 8 from their 20 overs.

The convincing win gives Olila an ideal start to the season and highlights their strength in both batting and bowling.
