Uganda’s Jonah Kyobe is two wins away from a gold medal at the ongoing Africa Boxing Championships in Maputo Mozambique.

Bombers boxer Kyobe defeated Cameroonian Tchouta Mbianda in the Featherweight category by a 4-1 unanimous decision to book a slot in the semi-finals.

Already inside the medal bracket, Kyobe vowed to aim higher than bronze medal. A slot in the finals will see him become a candidate of silver or gold.

However, the same can’t be said to four of his teammates who lost their bouts and got eliminated.

Isaac Zebra Ssenyange was the first to fall to Mauritius boxer Clair Merven on day one. The following day saw three more drop out.

Bombers captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa lost to Colin Richamo, Owen Kibira fell to Elsayed Omar from Egypt while the only female boxer on the team, Teddy Nakimuli was stopped by Bagao Hellena of Mozambique.

On a light note, Yusufu Nkobeza and Idris Mukiibi will be in action tonight against Colin Joshua Aaron of Seychelles and Egyptian Salah Orabi respectively.

From Nnalubaale Sports, we wish them all the best and salute you our great warriors.
