Uganda Bombers team Captain Nuhu Batte has continued his march towards another boxing medal after defeating India’s Aditya Yadav Pratap via split decision in the Men’s 65kg category at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Sunday.
“You will never see a braver Ugandan fighter than Batte’s performance tonight,” celebrated Ugandan journalist Brian Kawalya wrote on social media.
When asked what this means, Batte said, “These are things we dream of at an early stage in life. Now I am living the dream, but will take every second as it comes to ensure I enter the medal bracket”.
Batte will return to action on Tuesday against Englishman Patris Mughalzai in the quarterfinals. In other news, light heavyweight Alfred Ojok returns to the ring to face Englishman Dimeju Shittu at the Round of 16 stage on Monday.
Other Bombers such as Emilly Nakalema, Angel Katushabe and Aziz Ringo are yet to taste action, while Ibrahim Kemis was on Saturday ejected by Zambian Albert Ngulube.
