When the dust began to settle and debates swirled about what could have been, Kobs II, affectionately known to their loyal fans as the BOKS, left no room for doubt.
With a resolute display of skill, strategy and stamina, they secured the 2025 Reserve Premiership title, capping off a stellar season that reignited pride among their faithful.
Played by the second-tier sides of Uganda’s top-flight rugby clubs, the Reserve League often flies under the radar. But this year, Kobs II made sure everyone was watching.
Their championship run was anything but accidental, finishing at the summit with 31 points from eight matches seven wins and a solitary loss, the BOKs crafted a near-flawless campaign, combining defensive discipline with clinical attacking flair.
The statement of intent came early. On January 11th, they dismantled Rhinos II with a commanding 31-11 victory, signaling that this season would be played on their terms. From there, Kobs II were relentless.
They stormed through subsequent fixtures, none more emphatic than their 37-11 rout of Mongers II on March 1st. This performance highlighted their balance of power and precision.
Still, even giants stumble. Their only loss came in Round 4, a tightly contested 12-9 defeat to Buffaloes II on February 1st. It was a bruising encounter between two sides destined for a photo finish.
Buffaloes II matched Kobs II with a 7-1 record and finished just a single point behind in the standings.
Their own consistency and grit made them formidable, but Kobs II’s ability to collect bonus points, three in total, proved to be the razor-thin margin that made the difference.
Tactically astute and ruthlessly efficient, Kobs II closed out the season with a league-best point differential of +102.
Their blend of youth and experience saw them not only win matches but dominate them, playing a brand of rugby that was both pragmatic and pleasing on the eye.
Elsewhere in the league, Heathens II impressed with flashes of brilliance. Scoring a league-high 203 points, including a jaw-dropping 56-0 demolition of Rhinos II, they secured third place with 25 points. But their three losses ultimately left them off the pace in a title race where consistency was king.
Victoria II and Pirates II rounded out the top five, showing potential but lacking the sharp edge to challenge the top three. At the other end of the table, it was a season to forget for Rhinos II, who endured a winless campaign and finished with a staggering -163 point differential.
For Kobs II, however, 2025 will be remembered as the year they reclaimed their place at the top of reserve rugby with grit, guile and glory.
They didn’t just win, they dominated. And in doing so, they gave their fans something to cheer, and their future first-team stars a platform to shine.
