Makiadi out, Tembo in – Namuwongo Blazers have made a straightforward but important change as they push on with their title defence.
On Monday, the club confirmed the departure of assistant captain Michael Makiadi, thanking him for his leadership and commitment.
His time with the Blazers never fully took off, largely due to a persistent knee injury that limited his impact on the court.
His exit creates room for a new addition, with Congolese guard Kasereka Tembo already joining the squad according to SportsNation Uganda.
Tembo is familiar with the league, having played for KIU Rangers and Sommet, and brings shooting ability and pace to the team.
He also reunites with compatriot Fataki Nyembo, which could help him settle quickly. Still, he will have to fight for his place in a team that already has several guard options.
The Blazers have been strong this season, winning 10 of their 11 first-round games, and remain focused on defending their title.
They return to action on April 29 against KCCA Panthers at ABJA Park, Nalya, as the second round gets underway.
