MASAZA CUP 2023: Buddu, Gomba Fall As Match Day Two Climaxes

The 2023 Masaza Cup continued over the weekend as Matchday two climaxed with nine games.

In 9 games played over the weekend, 12 goals were scored and four wins were registered as the other five games ended on level.

Last year’s finalists Buddu FC and 5-time champions Gomba lost their respective games.

Buddu FC lost 1-0 to Buweekula at St Peter’s Technical Playground in Mubende on Sunday 9th July, 2023.

Blanchar Mulamba scored the all important goal from the spot that earned Buweekula three points and their second consecutive win as Buddu tasted their first defeat of the tournament.

Buweekula defeated Kyadondo 1-0 on match day one away at the Homesdallen playground in Gayaza last weekend with Ronald Kaye netting the lone goal.

Mawokota edged Five-time champions Gomba in a 1-0 win at Buwama Ssaza ground.

Calvin Peter Emayo‘s first half penalty goal helped Mawokota to overcome Gomba and go on top of Muganzirwaza group.

Kkooki and Kyaggwe shared spoils in a goalless draw and this was Kkooki’s first point in the campaign after suffering 1-0 loss to Buddu in the opening game.

Bulemezi came from behind to force a one-all draw against Bugerere in the Bulange group, however Bugerere still sits at the bottom of the group.

Ukasha Mulondo‘s goal was canceled by Martin Kikambi‘s late own goal in the game played at Ntenjeru Ssaza playground the home of Bugerere.

On Saturday 8th July, 2023, five game were played as Buluuli and Buvuma were the only teams to register a win.

Buluuli Ssaza edged Kyadondo 1-0 at Lawrence playground courtesy of Justus Wasswa Ssempijja Zaga’s strike.

This was Buluuli’s first victory in the campaign following a 1-4 defeat away to Kyaggwe on match day one at Nakisunga Ssaza playground.

Kyadondo suffered their second loss after a shock 0-1 home defeat to Buweekula on match day one.

Buvuma shocked Ssingo beating them 2-1 at the Magyo Ssaza playground.

Pius Kamoga and Stuart Keezaala scored for the two winning goals for Buvuma, while Yakiin Muwonge replied for Ssingo with the consolation.

Defending champions Busiro remained winless after a 1-1 draw with Kabula in the second game of the tournament.

It should be noted that Busiro lost 3-1 to Mawokota in the opening game at Wankulukuku and they are now at the bottom of Muganzirwa group with only one point and negative two goals.

Busujju got a point away against Butambala and this was the second successive draw both team in the campaign.

Ssese and Mawogola shared the spoils in a goal-less stalemate at the Lutoboka playground in Bulange group.
