Bulemeezi has been heavily punished by the Masaza Organizing Committee following their disorder in the semi-final clash against Buddu.
Despite Bulemeezi’s 2-1 win in the second leg, Buddu advanced to the final by away goals rule, but during the game and at full-time, their officials, players and fans stormed the pitch, attacking the referee as they were dissatisfied with officiation.
The hedious scenes sprung during the game when Buddu pulled one goal back in the second half through Dennis Kalanzi, one that Bulemeezi felt shouldn’t have stood.
“Bulemeezi Ssaza has been fined 5,000,000/= due to the unsporting actions from their fans, coaches and players and this money must be paid before the Masaza cup finals this year,” a statement read.
A number of Buddu fans sustained injuries and property like cars were destroyed as well.
“Furthermore, Bulemeezi has been suspended from the competition this year and they will not play their classification game against Busiro.”
“The team has also been deducted two goals and two points and this will apply starting in next year’s Masaza cup season 2023,” it added.
They will also play three games on neutral grounds next season on a venue to be arranged by the Masaza Cup committee.
Their coaches Ronald Ssali, Yusuf Kinene and Ssekamate Leo have been banned from the tournament for one year.
Bulemeezi team Captain Oscar Sulaiman Ssesazi, Oloya Habibu, Zizinga Ashiraf and Bagenda Abdul have all been suspended for two years. Ssesazi has also been handed to FUFA to action further on his unsporting behaviour.
It is believed this strong hand will go a long way in restoring sanity in a competition that has proved one of the biggest contributors to talent identification in the country.
