The quarterfinal second leg meetings of the 2022 Masaza Cup slated for Sunday have been called off, and pushed to a yet-to-be identified date.
The development comes after the outbreak of the Ebola scourge in the areas of Mityana, Mubende and Kampala.
The rising cases of the deadly disease prompted the Parliament to preach vigilance during public gatherings.
It is upon this course that the Masaza Cup Organizing Committee under the chairmanship of Sulaiman Sejjengo, decided to delay the matches.
“We have decided to postpone the fixtures because Football is for Unity,” he said in a media brief on Friday.
“Ebola can spread through public gatherings, so we don’t want to risk the lives of the King’s subjects because the agenda is about promoting Unity.”
The first leg Results had Bulemeezi beating Buweekula 1-0 with Gomba losing 2-1 at Busiro. Meanwhile, Kyaggwe lost 1-0 at home to Ssingo while Buddu narrowly beat Mawokota 1-0.
