The chase for the Futsal Super League title remained tight, with a one-point gap still separating the top two after Matchday 20, as both Mengo City and Park FC easily maintained their winning touches.
Mengo City was the most ruthless side on Friday, April 25 as they recorded an 8-0 victory against Nansana Aska, making it 19 games unbeaten since their season-opening 7-1 loss at the hands of Park FC.
Entering the tough match, with key players Anthony Male and Sharif Opuuli rested, Mengo City ran riot straight away, scoring four times in the opening five minutes.
Samuel Omara opened the scoring in the first minute, Ian Tugume added the second within a minute, John Musasizi netted the third in the fourth minute, and one minute later, Farouk Tumwesigye added another goal.
Inside five minutes, all Mengo City starting outfield players were already on the score sheet, and in the next five minutes, they continued to dominate.
In the next five minutes, Tugume and Musasizi added a goal to their names for Mengo City, winning the first half 6-0.
Returning for the second half, the game was almost done until the last five minutes when Tugume returned to the court and scored two more times to complete a hat trick, which took his season tally to 17 goals, making him the team’s second top scorer behind Abdul Karim Tebera, who has 19.
Earlier, with a hat trick, Prince Derrick Walugembe inspired Park FC to a 4-0 victory over Crown Lubiri, capitalizing on goalkeeping errors from Crown’s Abdul Razak, who committed three mistakes to concede three.
In the game, Park FC only scored one unavoidable goal with a big bang from captain Shafic Mulangira as they tested the waters at the top of the league shortly before Mengo City won to regain the number one position.
On the same note, but just playing to finish and enjoying the winning bonus, Kabowa Dream Team edged Kisugu 5-4, while Kisenyi FC extended their winning streak to five with a 3-2 victory over Lubaga Grameen.
Again, the menu served another enjoyment as Edgar’s Youth Programme entertained the crowd with a 4-3 win over Kabuusu Clouds, while QC Mbarara walked off with 3 free points courtesy of Busunju Sparks’ disappearance.
