Uganda Premier League record holders SC Villa have unveiled Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic as their new head coach.
Stojanovic takes over from Jackson Magera whose contract with the club expired at the start of June, with Villa deciding against renewal.
In the Tuesday developments, Stojanovic will be assisted by former KCCA FC head coach Morley Byekwaso, and Isaac Mwesigwa has also been hired as Club CEO in a major revamp.
While the Serbian has signed a two-year contract, Byekwaso, who will also take on the role of head of youth development, has penned a three-year deal.
“The club, SC Villa, needs to be the best on the field in terms of how we play and also score a lot of goals,” said Stojanovic to the press.
βIn terms of my style and plan, I need to look at the players that I have, and then from them, I will draw up my plan,β Stojanovic added.
βI am aware Villa is a top club, and very successful over the years. So I am here to build on that success, I also want to advance the work accomplished by the previous coaches,β Stojanovic said.
It has been reported that Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic played a key role in bringing Stojanovic to SC Villa.
The two coaches worked together at Egypt’s Zamalek and the Zambian national team, with Micho serving as the head coach and Stojanovic as his assistant.
