Uganda Cup R16 | Monday 17th March 2025 | 3 PM
- Maroons FC Vs Police FC – Luzira
- Gaddafi (UPPC) Vs Kitara FC – Entebbe Works Ground
Police FC head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa is optimistic ahead of their Uganda Cup Round of 16 showdown against Maroons FC at the Prison Grounds, Luzira, on Monday afternoon.
The encounter brings together two Uganda Premier League (UPL) sides in what is expected to be a tense battle.

Maroons won their only league meeting this season, securing a 2-1 victory at Kavumba, a result that Police will be eager to overturn.
Mugerwa sees this as an opportunity for redemption and progression. “It’s a very good game against Maroons, both force teams, Police and Maroons. It will be tricky, competitive, and entertaining, but we are prepared to advance,” he said.
Despite losing Kasumba to injury, Mugerwa confirmed that the rest of the squad is fit and ready.
On the other hand, Maroons assistant coach Simon Peter Ojok acknowledged the importance of the game, calling it a “do or die” fixture.
“We know we have only one chance to make it to the next round. We’ve prepared the players mentally and tactically because this is a derby,” Ojok said.
However, Maroons will miss key players, including team captain Orombi Ronald, Nunda Jackson, and Bika Innocent due to injuries.
Meanwhile, Uganda Cup holders Kitara FC will also be in action, visiting Big League side Gaddafi FC as they aim for a place in the quarterfinals.
