Police FC will need to fend off opposition from Adjumani TC FHL FC in the semifinals to make the final of the 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The Cops head into the second leg with a narrow first-leg semi-final advantage having beaten them 1-0 a week ago at Kavumba.
The second leg is set for Friday in Adjumani, with full focus on the final. If they overcome the semis hurdle, they will meet one of Vipers SC or Soltilo Bright Stars.
Vipers boast a firm 4-0 advantage and are all but sure of playing in the final slated for the Akii-Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira.
Police head coach Angelo Lonyesi is certain his team will take the Cup home should they get past Adjumani TC.
“If we win or draw tomorrow, we shall qualify for the final, and let me assure you, the moment we reach the final we shall have the advantage,” he told the media on Thursday.
“We shall be on a neutral ground and I’m sure Vipers are already through, they are used to playing on the carpet (artificial turf),” he added with filled confidence.
“They are not used to playing on grass (natural grass) field (pitch), and as soon as we go through, please be assured Police have taken the trophy.”
“Our stumbling block is only Adjumani tomorrow,” Lonyesi added.
Police are aiming to win their first Uganda Cup in history, having made the final on two previous occasions.
