In the last display of the USSSA U20 Boys football National Championship round of 16, 12-time champions St Mary’s Kitende overcame fiercely determined Madina Islamic 2-1, while Masaka SS beat Lubiri SS 1-0 to secure the last slots in the quarterfinals.

In the Wakiso clash, Jordan Tugume and Nabil Lujumba scored for St Mary’s Kitende, while Latif Eperu scored for Madina Islamic, but it wasn’t enough. In the end, the debutants had to bend to 9-16 classifications.

For Masaka SS, Ali Ssemakula scored the only goal, enough to eliminate Lubiri SS, who lost 1-0. Masaka SS reached the same stage they stopped at last year in Ngora.

Earlier in these matches, Bukedea Comprehensive stopped Greenlight Islamic with a 1-0 win, and Numasa SS won 2-0 over Busia SS to join Kyadondo SS, Buddo SS, Amus College, and London College Nansana, who reached the stage first.

Switching to the Quarterfinals, Kitende will take on Numasa SS, and Bukedea Comprehensive will play Masaka SS on Sunday, May 17, as the game switches to the host school’s ground, Lira Town College.
