Ahead of the 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup, on April 23 at Kyaggwe Ssaza ground in Mukono, county Chief ‘Ssekiboobo’ Vincent Matovu has announced Honorable Kanaabi Jjimy as the new chairman, replacing Honorable Sserubula Stephen Kinaalwa.
The Kyaggwe Ssaza team continues to look for its first-ever Masaza Cup title. Its closest contest came in 2024 under the leadership of Honorable Sserubula, when they reached their first-ever final, which they lost 1-0 to Buddu at Namboole.
With Kanaabi stepping in, he will face the challenge of extending Honorable Sserubula’s two years of performances, as he led the team to two back-to-back semifinals for the first time in history.
Meanwhile, Kanaabi will remain a usual face in the football community, as he represents his Clan of Ensuma in the Bika Bya Baganda football tournament as both a player and administrator.
The elected Honorable member of Parliament for Buikwe South is also the chairman for Buganda Region club Buikwe Redstar, since replacing celebrated journalist Isac Mukasa in 2023.
