2025/26 University Football League | First Leg | Quarterfinal | Tuesday March 24

  • Bugema University 1-1 Kampala University

Mwandha Jonah came through when it mattered most, scoring late to earn Bugema University a 1-1 draw against Kampala University in the first leg of their University Football League quarterfinal in Bugema.

Kampala University had taken control early, going ahead in the 20th minute through Nsubuga Gideon’s penalty after Bebe Casemiro brought down Kiweewa Raymond in the box.

They held that lead into halftime, thanks largely to goalkeeper David Wafula, who made key saves, including denying Jombwe.

The game turned after the break when KU were reduced to ten men. Owao Simon Peter was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Mwandha, shifting momentum to Bugema.

Bugema kept pushing and found their reward in the 75th minute. Mwandha tapped in from close range after a good cross from Derrick Musinguzi to level the score.

They pressed for a winner, but chances, including one for Mwandha Joseph, went begging as KU held on.

The tie remains open ahead of the return leg on March 30 in Kampala.
