FUFA Big League side Kitara FC and Uganda Premier League outfit Wakiso Giants FC were the first two teams to reach the Round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Kitara edged Uganda Pentecostal University 2-1 at Kigaaya Primary School in Hoima on Tuesday evening to be the first side to progress to the next round.

Sam Ssimbwa‘s side struck late in added time and the hero of the day was Dudu Ramadhan who restored Kitara’s lead with his second goal of the game.

The University side who eliminated former champions URA FC had netted the equaliser in the 83rd minute thanks to Abdul Bwambale‘s goal.

In the other match of the day, the traveling side, Wakiso Giants needed shootouts to eliminate fellow top tier side, Blacks Power.

Following a barren draw, Wakiso held their nerves to win 5-6 on penalties and silence a big crowd at Akii Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira.
