Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women Football Club, a FUFA Women Super League club, has signed defender Nabirah Nakitto.
Nakitto joins Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC after a brief stint at Asubo Ladies FC. She spent the second round of the 2022/23 season at Asubo, where she helped the team avoid relegation on the final day.
Nakitto, who won the FUFA Women Super League in 2020/21 with Lady Doves, will add experience and fill the gap left by Patience Nabulobi, who departed the team to join Kampala Queens FC.
Nakitto was also part of the Lady Doves team that competed in and won a bronze medal in the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers in Kenya in 2021.
The 2023 FUFA Women’s Cup winners have already signed Shaminah Nakalyowa from Byafaayo Queens FC and Sharon Kanyiginya from Tooro Queens FC.
Uganda Martyrs also reunited with former coach Rogers Nkugwa and former Lady Doves coach Rajab Buyinza. With both being her former coaches, Nakitto is expected to receive regular playing time.
The transfer window closes on Thursday, September 21st, and many transfers are expected to be completed in the remaining hours.
