The 2023 FUFA Women’s Cup champions, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women Football Club, have been busy in the transfer market, signing two new players to strengthen their squad.
Midfielder Shaminah Nakalyowa joins Uganda Martyrs from Byafaayo Queens, a team she helped to lift the Kampala region league and gain FUFA Women Elite League promotion.
Nakalyowa is a dynamic and versatile midfielder who will add creativity and energy to the Uganda Martyrs midfield.
Forward Sharon Kanyiginya is an exciting and speedy forward who played for Tooro Queens last season in the FUFA Women Elite League.
Kanyiginya is a prolific goalscorer who will be a major asset to the Uganda Martyrs attack.
The two new signings come at a time when Uganda Martyrs have lost some key players, including forward Catherine Nagadya, left back Esther Namusoke and Patience Nabulobi, who have all joined Kampala Queens FC.
However, with the addition of Nakalyowa and Kanyiginya, Uganda Martyrs will be looking to again challenge for silverware in the coming 2023/24 FUFA Women Super League season.
