  • Kitara FC 0-0 Calvary FC

Calvary FC, bottom of the table, delivered a defiant performance in Hoima to hold Kitara FC to a goalless draw and dent their title hopes at Royal Park, Butema.

Kitara came into Matchday 24 of the Uganda Premier League needing a win to stay in the title race, but found a Calvary side organized, disciplined, and determined not to give anything away.

The hosts controlled the ball early but created little. Calvary stayed compact and physical, with Stephen Oriokot booked as they broke up play.

Kitara’s best moment in the first half came from a free kick, but the Calvary goalkeeper reacted well to keep the score level.

Both sides were forced into changes before halftime due to injuries, with Calvary replacing Patrick Matovu and Kitara losing Jimmy Kalema. Still, neither side found a breakthrough before the break.

Kitara pushed harder after halftime, making several changes to increase tempo and attacking threat.

A triple substitution on the hour showed their intent, but clear chances remained rare. Calvary stayed disciplined, closing spaces and frustrating every forward move.

As the game wore on, the tension grew. Bookings followed, and Kitara threw more men forward, but lacked the final pass or finish to break the deadlock. Calvary held firm until the final whistle.

For Kitara, it is now three matches without a win, a run that slows their push at the top. They sit fourth on 48 points, level with SC Villa but behind on goal difference.

For Calvary, the result extends their unbeaten run to three matches. They remain bottom with 10 points, but the performance showed belief and fight in their bid to survive.

Kitara next visit Lugazi, while Calvary host KCCA, carrying confidence from a result that could prove important in both the title race and the relegation battle.
