Kagawa strikes KCCA FC past UPDF FC

Muhammed Ssenoga Kagawa‘s lone strike was enough as KCCA FC narrowly beat UPDF FC 1-0 in a Uganda Premier League encounter at the Bombo Military Barracks Grounds on Wednesday.

It was the first time the Morley Byekwaso coached side were winning away from home in the 2022/23 campaign.

They had lost all their two games away including 3-1 and 1-0 losses to Arua Hill SC and Maroons FC respectively.

The game was marred with hideous incidents as in the 54th minute, KCCA defender Dennis Iguma was shown a red card for head batting UPDF’s Ibrahim Magandazi.

Magandazi was also later dismissed in the 81st minute, having elbowed twice in a space of four minutes.

Implications of the result and what’s next on the horizon

The result took the 13-time league champions up to third on the 15-team table with 12 points from six matches.

Meanwhile, UPDF’s poor results have left them 12th with five points after seven games.

KCCA will return to action with an MTN Omondi Stadium bout against URA FC on November 19th while UPDF will visit Vipers SC a day earlier.
