2025/26 Uganda Premier League | Tuesday, May 19 | MD 29
- Maroons FC Vs Vipers SC — Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku | 4 pm
- URA FC Vs KCCA FC — Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo | 4 pm
The Uganda Premier League title could be decided on Tuesday evening as reigning champions Vipers SC travel to Wankulukuku needing victory over Maroons FC to seal an eighth league crown with a game to spare.
For weeks, the Venoms looked firmly in control of the title race. Now they arrive at one of the biggest matches of their season under pressure after a difficult run of results and painful elimination from the Plascon co-sponsored Uganda Cup at the hands of Kitara FC on Friday.
Coach Jacky Ivan Minnaert’s side have gone five matches without victory in all competitions and have managed only two league wins in their last eight outings.
Yet despite the struggles, the title remains within touching distance.
Vipers lead the table on 61 points, three ahead of second placed KCCA FC.
Victory against Maroons would move them to 64 points and confirm them as champions because they hold a superior head to head record over KCCA.
The Venoms will look to returning forward Milton Karisa, alongside Usama Arafat and Chukwuma Odili, to deliver the goals on a night that could define their season.
Forward Beyuku Munsi misses out through injury after limping off during the draw with Kitara.
History also favours Vipers. In 14 meetings between the sides, the Venoms have won nine and drawn five. Maroons are still searching for their first victory in the fixture.
But the hosts have reasons to believe, Maroons may sit 10th with 35 points, but they have not lost a home league game in three months.
The Prison Warders are also chasing a top eight finish that would secure qualification for next season’s FUFA Super 8 tournament.
While Vipers chase glory at Wankulukuku, KCCA will be hoping for help elsewhere when they face URA FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
KCCA must beat URA and hope Maroons can stop the champions to keep the title race alive heading into the final day.
URA, however, will also be desperate to respond after their Uganda Cup semi final exit to SC Villa.
The Tax Collectors are winless in their last ten matches and coach Hussein Mbalangu will be eager to end that run against one of his favourite opponents.
By Tuesday night, Vipers could be celebrating another league triumph or KCCA could force the title race into one final twist.
