- SC Villa Vs Buhimba United Saints FC – FUFA Stadium, Kadiba | 8 pm
There is no margin for error for SC Villa this Saturday. If they are to stay in the Uganda Premier League title race, they simply have to beat Buhimba United Saints at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
Of the two, SC Villa come into this fixture, the happier side after edging Lugazi FC 1-0 in their last match, while Buhimba United lost to leaders Vipers 2-0 at the Royal Park.
Villa are third on 48 points, trailing leaders Vipers SC by seven and KCCA FC by three. With Vipers not playing until Sunday, a win would cut the gap at the top and keep the pressure alive. Anything less could leave their title hopes hanging by a thread.
Recent results have given Villa belief. They beat KCCA and held Vipers at Kadiba, performances that showed they can compete with the best. Their attack, led by Najib Yiga, Hassan Mubiru and Frank Ssebuufu, has been sharp at the right time.
Buhimba arrive in a very different situation. They are second from bottom with 15 points and have lost six straight matches. But with relegation danger looming, they have every reason to fight for a result.
Head coach Zeljko Kovacevic emphasized the importance of the fixture;
“We need to win tomorrow’s game to stay close in the title race. Relegation-threatened teams are always difficult to play, especially at this stage of the season, but everyone is ready and we believe the squad can deliver the points.”
Villa, though, cannot afford to slip. At this stage of the season, it is not about performances, it is about points. The Jogoos won the first leg 3-0 in Hoima.
Elsewhere, KCCA visit Calvary in Yumbe, Maroons host Police at the Prison Ground, and Lugazi face Kitara in Najjembe.
