Vipers SC put three past Maroons FC without a response to register their first win of the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League season at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Milton Karisa and Yunus Sentamu’s brace were simply enough for the Kitende side to down the Prison Warders on the chilly Friday evening.

In the 20th minute, Karisa capitalised on indecisive defending after Maroons goalkeeper Simon Tamale had saved Bright Anukani’s powerful freekick, to fire home from the rebound.

Ten minutes later, the hosts’ custodian Alfred Macumu Mudekereza, was then called into action to deny Fredrick Kigozi’s stinging shot.

In the 65th minute, Sentamu doubled the hosts’ lead with a brilliant flick off Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye’s well taken set piece.

A minute later, Sentamu completed his brace with a low but powerful drive past Tamale after beautiful assistance from Karisa.

Sentamu should have made it three for himself on a brilliant evening, but his shot was blocked by the on-rushing Patrick Bayiga, as Vipers settled for a 3-0 victory.

After this result, the Venoms moved up the table to 12th on four points, and will take on Wakiso Giants FC on Tuesday the 8th of November 2022 next.

Meanwhile, Maroons who are fifth on the log, will take on Blacks Power FC on the 15th of November at their home inside Luzira Prisons.
