- Vipers 6-0 Mbale Heroes
Vipers SC delivered a ruthless performance under the floodlights at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, thrashing already-relegated Mbale Heroes 6-0 in a one-sided Uganda Premier League encounter on Wednesday night.
The emphatic victory saw Vipers stretch their lead at the top of the table to seven points, moving to 65 points after second-placed NEC were held to a 1-1 draw by BUL FC.
With just three games remaining, the Venoms now need only three more points to clinch their seventh league title.
Milton Karisa led the onslaught with a brace, supported by goals from Yunus Sentamu, Allan Okello, Mohamed Salem Ekbad and Kenneth Kimera, as Vipers dominated from the first whistle to the last.
Karisa opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing off a slick through ball from Pedro Sukuya. Sentamu added a second nine minutes later with a curling strike before Okello tapped in the third just before halftime, courtesy of a precise Karisa cross.
Vipers could have gone into the break with an even larger lead, but wasteful finishing and fine saves from the Mbale goalkeeper kept the scoreline from ballooning earlier.
The second half saw no let-up from the hosts. Karisa doubled his tally in the 70th minute, turning in a low cross from Abubaker Walusimbi. Substitutes Ekbad and Kimera then joined the party, scoring in quick succession to complete the rout.
Despite missed chances in the final stages, Vipers’ dominance never wavered against a demoralized Mbale Heroes side that remains anchored to the bottom of the table with just 10 points in a season to forget.
