  • SC Villa 2-2 KCCA

Having netted twice in their previous Uganda Cup game against Kataka FC, Emmanuel Anyama’s brace once again was the highlight of a pulsating Uganda Premier League clash as KCCA FC played out a dramatic 2-2 draw with SC Villa at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

The young forward continues to make headlines with his sharp finishing, once again proving decisive as KCCA clawed back from a halftime deficit to share the spoils with their traditional rivals.

The match had all the ingredients of a classic early chances, momentum swings, individual brilliance, and moments of controversy, keeping fans on the edge of their seats throughout.

SC Villa began the contest with intent, dominating the early exchanges and coming close through Reagan Mpande and Ashraf Mulindi, both of whom saw their efforts fly narrowly off target. Despite Villa’s early pressure, it was KCCA who struck first blood in the 22nd minute.

Emmanuel Anyama, in imperious form, timed his run perfectly to meet Ashraf Mugume’s low cross and calmly slotted home from a tight angle to give the visitors the lead.

KCCA nearly doubled their advantage minutes later when Joel Sserunjogi unleashed a fierce drive, only to be denied by a superb reflex save from Villa goalkeeper Jean Braddy Wokorach.

But the hosts were not to be silenced. In the 36th minute, Mpande turned provider with a sublime ball that Charles Lwanga tucked away with composure to level the tie.

Just as the game seemed to be swinging in Villa’s favour, they were awarded a penalty when Peter Magambo was judged to have handled the ball inside the area.

Mpande stepped up and coolly converted from the spot, sending the home crowd into raptures as Villa headed into the break with a 2-1 lead.

KCCA, however, were far from finished. Just seven minutes into the second half, João Gabriel whipped in a dangerous corner and Anyama rose above the Villa defence to power home a header for his second of the afternoon and his sixth goal of the season, levelling the contest once again.

The tempo remained high as both teams pushed for a winner. Arafat Usama came close for KCCA, but his goal-bound effort was brilliantly deflected wide by Geoffrey Lubangakene in what proved to be one of the game’s key defensive moments.

With the result, KCCA FC remain in fifth place on the 16-team log with 41 points from 27 matches, while SC Villa sit two spots below in seventh with 39 points.

Both sides will now turn their attention to their upcoming fixtures. SC Villa will travel to face Police FC on Sunday, May 11, while KCCA FC return home to host Wakiso Giants on Saturday, May 10.
