  • Kampala Rockets 65-63 KCCA Panthers

In a tight National Basketball League (NBL) clash under the floodlights at YMCA Kampala, the Kampala Rockets staged a stunning fourth-quarter comeback to edge the KCCA Panthers 65–63 in a tightly contested late-night showdown on Wednesday.

The Panthers, who appeared firmly in control for much of the contest, watched their lead evaporate in the final quarter as the Rockets unleashed a relentless 24-point surge.

It was a gritty battle throughout, but the Rockets found another gear when it mattered most, overturning a sluggish third period to snatch the win in dramatic fashion.

The Panthers had built a steady lead through the first three quarters, posting scores of 17-14, 18-19 and 15-8, entered the final period with momentum on their side.

However, their offensive rhythm faltered at the worst possible moment, managing just 13 points in the fourth as the Rockets turned up the pressure on both ends of the court.

Head coach Naija Juuko’s Rockets showed poise and precision down the stretch, capitalizing on lapses in the Panthers’ defense.

Despite the absence of official player efficiency stats, the impact of individual performances was clear.

The Rockets were led by Edward Mugabo’s 18 points, with strong support from Mpiya Juf and Brian Opio who added 16 and 15 points, respectively.

For the Panthers, Davis Assimwe carried the scoring load with a game-high 22 points, but he received limited offensive help as the team struggled to convert late possessions.

Stanley Mugerwa and Ivan Rumanyika made their presence felt on the glass with 10 and 12 rebounds respectively, but their efforts weren’t enough to halt the Rockets’ momentum in the final stretch.
