VVC staged a remarkable comeback, overcoming a two-set deficit to defeat Nemo Ladies 3-2 in the opening match of the National Volleyball League’s second round yesterday afternoon.
In a thrilling encounter that marked the beginning of the league’s second round at the Sport-S Volleyball Arena in Nsambya, Nemo Ladies dominated the early stages, capturing the first two sets.
The closely contested sets, won by Nemo Ladies 27-25 and 30-28, put them on the verge of securing all three points and their second victory of the season.
However, VVC’s resilience throughout the first two sets paid dividends as they rallied to win the next two sets, 25-21 and 25-15.
Thanks to their net protection, they forced a decisive tiebreaker. VVC ultimately prevailed in the fifth set, 15-8, earning two valuable points.
While Nemo Ladies settled for a losing bonus point, their male counterparts appeared to have learned from their female team’s experience.
The eyes on the prize Nemo men’s team defeated Police 3-0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-23) to claim maximum points.
This victory, their eighth of the season, moved them to within three points of league leaders Sport-S (26 points), who will be in action this evening at the same venue.
In the men’s other match, KCCA defeated Prisons 3-1 (27-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18). This win propelled KCCA to 21 points, solidifying their position in third place.
For Prisons, this loss, their tenth in as many games, leaves them at the bottom of the table with only three losing bonus points to their credit.
