Scottish side Peterhead FC confirmed the signing of Uganda Cranes defender Enock ‘Lucio’ Walusimbi from Express Football Club.

The utility player penned down a one-year employment contract, ending his two-year stint with the Mukwano Gwabangi.

“There have been a few hurdles to overcome but the contract has been signed now, which is a huge step forward and a bit of a coup for the club,” said Peterhead head coach Jim Mclnallyy via the club’s website.

“We are now just awaiting clearance from the Scottish Football Association and his work visa.”

“We said we would leave no stone unturned in terms of getting players to the club and Enock’s signing is another example of that,” he added.

In Walusimbi’s deal with Peterhead, it has been reported that after the expiry of the contract, first priority will be given to Dundee United, the home of former KCCA FC striker Sadat Anaku.

Walusimbi joined Express from Soltilo Bright Stars FC ahead of the 2020/21 season, winning the Uganda Premier League and the CECAFA Inter-Club Championship.

“Two years of great memories at Wankulukuku Stadium. Today I say goodbye to everyone at Express,” Walusimbi posted on his social media platforms.

“The officials, coaching staff, players, and also the fans. It was a great honor to captain the team and I thank everyone at the club. Wish you all the best.”

Peterhead plies in the Scottish League One and they are currently positioned rock-bottom of the 10-team table with one point from six games.
