Wandyaka’s spectacular strike for BUL condemns SC Villa to first defeat

BUL FC needed a late goal from Richard Wandyaka to break SC Villa’s hearts as the Jinja side picked a narrow 1-0 win at the FUFA Technical Center on Friday.

It was the Oil Manufacturers’ third win in four games whereas the Jogoo suffered their first loss of the campaign.

Villa have now played four times, won twice managed one stalemate and surrendered to defeat once.

In the Friday encounter, BUL showed sheer dominance from the start, and they had the record champions on the back foot throughout.

Villa were lucky not to concede after Jerome Kirya‘s deflected shot off Kenneth Semakula went inches wide in the early moments of the game.

In the second stanza, firing striker Karim Ndugwa nearly gave the hosts the lead but his low effort bounced off the right goal post.

Just after that moment, his powerful effort went above the woodwork narrowly.

With a minute left on the clock, Wandyaka struck a sensational volley to find the back of the net and put to an end Villa’s resilience.

The victory keeps BUL FC on top of the log with 10 points from four games while Villa stay second on the 15-team log with seven points.

What’s next for the two teams

While BUL will be returning to action on Tuesday against Gaddafi FC, Villa will be hosting Busoga United FC five days later, at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
