Just ahead of the Airtel Buganda Masaza Cup kickoff this coming Saturday, June 13, in Mubende, record holders Gomba revived the vibe at Kabulasoke PTC with a big turnout for a squad unveiling.

On the experience side, players such as Jackson Ssemugabi, Habert Onenerach, Fahad Aniku, Dirisa Masembe, and many others are in the squad, which has rising stars as well.
The squad also indicates big expenses as they managed to keep the top scorer in the last campaign, Robert Ssewanyana, and his partner Joram Kalyesubula on striking options, while their defensive effort shall continue under the leadership of team captain Harbert Onen.
The squad again counts on big signings with about four players, such as Goalkeeper Bashir Ssenyonga, Fahad Aniku, Collins Ssemanda, and Benon Chandia, who moved in with coaches from the reigning champions Buwekula.
Other players like midfield dynamo Joseph Kizza from Kyaggwe, Hamza Ntangujira, and Muhammad Kasule, who tracks good scoring records, joined the team. Players also joined from Mawokota.
After the unveiling of the big-name squad, Gomba County Chief, Kitunzi Fredrick William Mugabi, together with team patron Daniel Mwesigye, flagged off the hunt for the 6th title before proceeding with a friendly much to Buwekula that ended 1-1.
As Gomba continues the search for the 6th title, team Manager Namugema is seeking to become the second lady to manage a team to the Buganda Masaza Cup title after Baker Mayanja, who did it with Kyadondo, while Jane Namatovu is aiming to become the first female chairperson to win it.

Gomba, with five titles as the biggest team in the Buganda Masaza Cup, is in the Masengere group along with other big teams like Mawokota, Bulemeezi, Busiro, Kyaggwe, and Ssese as the group combines 12 trophies won by four teams in just 21 editions.
