KCCA FC put up arguably their best performance of the campaign against SC Villa in new head coach Jackson Mayanja‘s first game.
The Kasasiro Boys registered an emphatic 4-1 victory, thanks to strikes from Saidi Mayanja, Simon Tshisungu Kankonde, Rogers Mato, and Julius Poloto. @KCCAFC @SCVillaJogoo #StarTimesUPL #GoLocalā½
Despite the win though, the tactician wasn’t fully pleased with the entire show, expressing his frustration with defender Geofrey Wasswa.
The center-back was culpable for Villa’s consolation scored by Charles Bbaale and got hooked off immediately for Peter Magambo.
“According to the way we play, you can’t concede a goal cheaply like that and that’s why I removed Wasswa.”
“I don’t like this kind of naivety as a defender. He’s a national team player, you don’t just give a goal like that and that’s why I took him off immediately.”
Mayanja then re-emphasized what his main emphasis has been from the time he took over reigns less than a week back.
“I want to make sure that the boys’ mindset is okay and to believe in every player and show them that this club is a great club.”
“If you are playing for KCCA, you don’t bring jokes here. This is one of the greatest clubs we have here in Uganda, and to show them that we can still win this cup.”
KCCA, who are now on 41 points in second, and trail SC Villa by just two points, but the league leaders have played two games extra.
