The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed that the newly constructed Kadiba Stadium will host the final of the 2025 Uganda Cup, marking a historic moment for both the venue and Ugandan football.

The final of the 51st edition of the country’s oldest and most prestigious knockout competition will be the first-ever match played at Kadiba Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility whose construction began in 2018.

Built on land generously offered by Namirembe Cathedral, the stadium project was envisioned as a modern home for football with total costs estimated at $4.4 million (approximately 15.4 billion Uganda shillings).

“This is a special moment for Ugandan football,” said a FUFA official at the announcement.

“Kadiba Stadium represents the future of our sport, and there’s no better way to christen it than with the Uganda Cup final.”

Kadiba Stadium’s completion is seen as a major milestone for FUFA’s broader infrastructural development plans and hosting the Uganda Cup final is expected to showcase its modern facilities to the wider public and inspire future generations of footballers.

Meanwhile, excitement around the tournament is reaching fever pitch following the semifinal draw, which was held on Monday, 28th April 2025, at Serene Hotel in Kampala.

Defending champions Kitara FC are set for a blockbuster clash against Vipers SC, while record holders KCCA FC will take on dark horses Kataka FC.

The first legs of the semifinals are scheduled for 3rd and 4th May, with the return fixtures set for 17th and 18th May.

Both ties promise drama and intrigue, as the race to become the first-ever team to lift the Uganda Cup at Kadiba Stadium intensifies.

Kitara FC, who famously knocked out Vipers SC at the quarterfinal stage last year before sealing their maiden Uganda Cup title with a 1-0 win over NEC FC at Muteesa II Stadium, will be looking to defend their crown.

The 51st edition of the Uganda Cup, co-sponsored by Plascon Uganda, is not just a fight for silverware but also serves as a platform for young players to showcase their skills.
