KCCA squander chance to go top

Thirteen-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC missed a golden opportunity to recapture their table leadership as they drew one-all with Maroons FC on Saturday.

Uganda Cranes hero Rogers Mato turned saviour again, this time for the Kasasiro Boys as he equalized to salvage them a draw at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

The winger cancelled out Fred Amaku‘s eighth minute opener, as the Warders looked to aim at completing a double over the premier league giants.

Maroons initially won the first round encounter 1-0, thanks again to star marksman Amaku.

On Saturday, the hosts reacted well to conceding first and mounted numerous attacks, with Peter Magambo heading inches wide a 17th minute Allan Okello corner.

Julius Poloto, off the bench, forced a superb save from Simon Tamale in the second half to leave matters leveled.

Tamale was yet again brilliant in the 74th minute as he dived well to deny another substitute, Moses Waiswa.

KCCA now trail leaders SC Villa by one point. The former are on 36 points while the latter are on 37 despite playing two games more.

On the other hand, Maroons ascended to eighth on the log with 26 points in 19 matches.

KCCA visit Blacks Power FC on Wednesday in their next match, while Maroons will play hosts to Vipers SC the same day.
