While introducing changes to the rules of the Buganda Masaza Cup tournament, Sam Mpiima, the Vice Chairman of administration on the Buganda Masaza Cup organizing Committee, clarified the allocation of medals to teams that reach the medal bracket.
Speaking to Masaza cup team officials at Bulange Mengo on Tuesday, May 19, he stated, “We always get challenges about who should be awarded with medals, especially on winning teams; in the new change, we have decided that only 25 players, nine coaches, six team leaders, the county chief, and his deputy will get medals,” Mpiima said.
In the past, it is recalled that various people have been lining themselves up to get medals for the winners, and then some of the privileged ones end up left without winners’ medals.
Starting with this year’s tournament, a total of 42 medals will be awarded to the selected individuals for each team that will win Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals.
In other changes, the Committee has further tightened the Masaza cup team documentation by emphasizing that all teams use headed paper and that the General Secretary’s and Team Chairman’s signatures must be applied.
Recently, the official documents have not been emphasized to be on headed papers, and only the general secretary’s signature has been proving enough.
Meanwhile, the committee also passed a resolution to ensure players’ confirmation before the start of the tournament or to restart from the two mid-season transfer markets, while in case of appeal against the decisions of the committee, the appealing team would appeal with a formal appeal and 1,000,000/=
