Former SC Villa tactician Steven Bogere has been appointed as the new head coach for West Nile side Onduparaka FC for an undisclosed period.

Amidst the ongoing Uganda Premier League struggles, the appointing authority has tasked Bogere to lead an instant turnaround of fortunes, as they seek to survive relegation.

“Onduparaka announces the appointment of Mr. Steven Bogere as Head Coach, effective Tuesday 6th December 2022,” read a communication on the club’s social media platforms.

“We thank the assistant coach (Hamuza Kalanzi) for holding forte thus far, we believe his arrival is timely as the management works towards improving performance,” it added.

Yet to win a league game this season, the Caterpillars are currently rock-bottom of the 15-team SUPL log with only two points after 10 games.

Bogere comes in as Haruna Mawa‘s successor, whose departure came earlier this season, leaving his assistant Kalanzi at the helm on interim basis.

Following the development, Kalanzi will thus deputize Bogere, with their first assignment against defending champions Vipers SC at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.
