Second Leg: 17th and 18th May respectively

Ten-time record champions KCCA FC are set for a thrilling semifinal clash against FUFA Big League side Kataka FC in the 51st edition of the Uganda Cup.

The highly anticipated semifinal draw was held on Monday, 28th April 2025, at the Kampala Serena Hotel, setting the stage for a dramatic finish to Uganda’s oldest football competition, which began in 1971. KCCA will host the first leg before traveling to Mbale for the decisive return fixture.

The semifinals promise fireworks, with holders Kitara FC facing Vipers SC in the other tie. The first legs are scheduled for 3rd and 4th May, with the second legs set for 17th and 18th May.

At the draw event graced by FUFA dignitaries and sponsors, Stanbic Bank’s Isaac Ajiji highlighted the growing intensity of the competition while FUFA Executive Member Owek. Florence Nakiwala Kiyinji urged fair play, applauding the teams for progressing from an initial 369 entries to the final four.

KCCA head coach Jackson Magera expressed confidence but warned against underestimating Kataka. “They have eliminated two UPL sides, URA and Police. We are prepared for the challenge,” Magera said.

Meanwhile, Kataka’s Godfrey Awachango sees an opportunity in facing KCCA away first. “Playing the first leg away gives us an advantage. We are ready to make history,” he stated.

Kataka’s journey has been nothing short of heroic, stunning top-flight sides URA and Police through dramatic penalty shootouts.

Meanwhile, KCCA’s pedigree and experience in knockout football will make them formidable opponents.

The grand finale will be staged at the newly completed Kadiba Stadium, making the quest for Uganda Cup glory even more historic.

The 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, co-sponsored by Plascon Uganda, is not just a fight for silverware but also serves as a platform for young players to showcase their skills.
