City Oilers picked an impressive victory in Division East of the Elite 16, beating Madagascar side COSPN 71-59 at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Despite a cagey start from either team, the Oilers got into the earlier gear and grabbed a 22-11 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Oilers seemed to slip in the third quarter and COSPN took full advantage, pressing high, and made the Ugandan outfit pay for every committed turnover.
By the end of the third quarter, Oliers led by just six points, heading into the last with bits of pressure.
In a much slower fourth quarter, Mandy Juruni‘s outfit managed to stretch their lead to 21 by the end of the encounter.
Roebuck Germaine managed a huge game high 17 points and seven rebounds to inspire the Oilers.
Meanwhile, Ferlando Jones and Titus Odeke had 15 and 11 points respectively, while Ngor Barnaba had four points and 10 rebounds.
In their second game, City Oilers will take on Matero Magic as COSPN will faceoff with Ferroviario Beira on Wednesday.
