On May 5, two-time champions and last season’s finalist Ssingo Ssaza football team has elevated Emmy Kisakye to the head coach role while bringing in Michael Bukenya as assistant.
While reaching the final last year in the Buganda Masaza Cup 2025, Kisakye was under head coach Bashir Bastu Ssemuyaba and Technical Hussein Mbalangu while Bukenya last season was the head coach to Kabula Ssaza team.
Kisakye has a good background in his coaching career having served at Edgar’s Youth Programme, Kiyinda Boys, and Express FC under Badru Kaddu’s stint.
On the other hand, Michael Bukenya, the former Express FC player, has also served at multiple teams in a head coach role including Masaza teams such as Buvuma and he is also recognized for guiding CATIDA FC to the FUFA Big League in the 2024-2025 season.
The two will extensively work with Godfrey Ssembatya as Second Assistant in charge of fitness and Joseph Ssempijja as Goalkeeping coach, while Hamza Mutumba will serve as team Doctor.
Last year Ssingo returned to the final for the first time in seven years since their last triumph in 2018 over Buddu. Before that time, Ssingo played two consecutive finals before their first trophy in 2015, and also lost another final in 2017 before the 2018 trophy win.
Following the loss of last year’s final to Buwekula Ssaza team, the Mukwenda-led county is tipped by records to be among the contenders, having kept some of the key players from last season’s squad, including midfield star Ismail Lwamitala.
In the management, Mukwenda Deo Kajimu opted to bring back Ronald Ssekajja as Chairman, but Farid Lakhan’s return in the team’s Management image proves a major factor in any performance Ssingo may pause in the tournament that awaits to take place between June 13 and October 30.
Lakhan is remembered for playing a major role for Ssingo between 2013 and 2018 and his hand is majorly recognized in both trophies that Ssingo is still counting on.
More so, last season Chairman Honorable Abdul Bisaso didn’t leave but was raised to join team patrons that include Honorable Judith Nabakooba, Honorable Francis Butebi, Rt Rev Dr James Bukomeko, and Rev Fr Simon Peter Kyambadde.
