Wakiso Zone has confirmed its four representatives for the 2026 Ball Games II National Championships as the race for the zonal title heads into the semifinal stage on Friday, June 19, at Mwererwe Grounds.
With four slots available for the nationals, Buddo SS, Greenlight Islamic Nansana, St Austin and Boston High successfully secured qualification after winning their respective quarterfinal matches.
The biggest shock of the qualifiers came from Greenlight Islamic Nansana, who eliminated last year’s national champions, Kyadondo SS.
Greenlight won 6-5 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in normal time. Akram Arike gave Greenlight the lead with a sensational strike just six minutes into the match.

After trailing at halftime, Kyadondo equalised a few minutes into the second half through a free kick by Charles Mugalu. From then on, Kyadondo looked the better side, but their dominance failed to produce a winner as the match headed straight to penalties.
Edema stepped up and scored, while both teams converted their first five penalties to force sudden death. Kyadondo captain Joshua Musasizi then missed his effort, with the goalkeeper making the save.
Thomas Calvin Kawooya calmly converted the winning penalty to send Greenlight to Gulu and complete the semifinal lineup.
Elsewhere, Boston High edged St Michael International 1-0 thanks to a goal from James Koko. St Austin eliminated Ryan Islamic 2-0, with Edwin Kanganwo and Denny Collins finding the back of the net.
Buddo SS also booked their place in the semifinals after fighting back from a goal down to defeat St Barnabas Migadde 3-1. Ambrose Aboyi scored twice, while Nicholas Kawooya added the third goal. Gift Joram Kaddu scored St Barnabas’ lone goal.
The semifinals will see Buddo SS take on Boston High, while Greenlight Islamic will face fellow Nansana district rivals St Austin. Both matches will kick off at 8:00 a.m. on Friday at Mwererwe Grounds.
