KCCA FC sailed through to the Quarter Finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup following a 2-1 victory over Mbarara City FC yesterday at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Mato Rogers and Simon Kankonde Tshisungu netted in either half to grant the Kasasiro Boys passage through to the last eight while Henry Kitegenyi scored the only goal of the day for the visiting Ankole Lions.

Mato opened the day’s account early on with an instinctive left-footed effort in just the second minute of play, before Kitegenyi equalized with eight minutes to halftime.

In the 65th minute, Kankonde linked superbly with Allan Okello before the former brilliantly slotted in the second, which was also the evening’s winner.

KCCA FC have now kept their dream of a domestic double alive, as they also lead the proceedings in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
