Uganda Premier League sets kickoff dates

The Uganda Premier League season will start on the 30th of September according to the Federation of Uganda Football Association 2022/23 calendar year.

It is almost three months until that date, a duration that will be used by different stakeholders to prepare for the new season.

For now, squads enforcement are ongoing thanks to a transfer window, an exchange market that runs until the 21st of September 2022.

All the 16 top tier teams are required to submit documents for players’ licensing by July 17th while the licenses will be issued between August 1st and 5th.

Stadium inspection for all the 16 teams will be conducted between July 17th and 29th. Thereafter, the UPL secretariat will release the draft fixtures on August 10th.

The first round will climax on December 22nd and the league will resume on the 9th of January after the Christmas break for the second round and the season will end of June 4th, 2023.

Vipers SC will be playing as defending champions while Blacks Power FC, Maroons FC, and Kyetume FC are the three teams that earned promotion from the StarTimes FUFA Big League.

The Regional Leagues will kick off on the same date as the SUPL, the Big League will get underway a fortnight later on September 15th whereas the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64 will start on January 10th.
