Mathias Kigonya departs Azam FC

Uganda Cranes shot-stopper Mathias Kigonya is no longer a player of Tanzania heavyweights, Azam FC.

The former Soltilo Bright Stars player, who joined Azam after his time with Forest Rangers of Zambia confirmed the departure news on his social media platforms.

“Following the expiry of the two wonderful years at Azam FC, my stage at this wonderful club has ended,” said Kigonya off his Facebook page.

“Indeed, I’ve been very happy here. Azam has been home and it’s been a pleasure to feature for this wonderful and historical club,” he added.

“As I say goodbye, I take this moment to thank the staff top to bottom, the players I have shared incredible memories with and the fans who took me in when at both low and high points.”

Besides Bright Stars, Forest Rangers and Azam, the Cranes shot-stopper has also played at Kenyan sides, Kakamega Home Boyz and Sofapaka FC.
