  • KCCA FC 1-1 Vipers SC

Glodi Munsi Beyuku came to the rescue late on as Vipers SC fought from behind to draw 1-1 with KCCA FC at the Philip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday night, a result that keeps them seven points clear at the top of the Uganda Premier League.

Vipers’ night started on the wrong foot when Enock Luyima went off injured inside three minutes, forcing an early change as Derrick Ndhahiro came on.

Despite the setback, the Venoms settled quickly and matched KCCA in a tight opening spell, though chances were few.

The game turned in the 34th minute when KCCA were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe stepped up and converted past Kiggundu to make it 1-0.

Vipers thought they had equalised earlier through Enock Ssebagala, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Another late first half strike also went off for the same reason, leaving them frustrated at the break.

After the restart, Vipers made several changes in search of a response, but KCCA stayed organised and looked comfortable at the back.

As the game wore on, the visitors struggled to find rhythm in the final third, with misplaced passes and poor coordination slowing their attack.

Then came the moment of quality. In the 87th minute, Watambala danced past two defenders before slipping in a perfect pass to Glodi Munsi, who fired into the top corner to level the game.

Three added minutes came and went without further drama, and the match ended 1-1.

The draw keeps Vipers firmly in control of the title race, maintaining a seven-point cushion at the summit.

Elsewhere, Police FC beat UPDF 2-0, Entebbe UPPC defeated Calvary by the same scoreline, while Buhimba also lost 2-0 at home.

The league continues Thursday as Kitara host SC Villa at Royal Park Butema.
