  • BUL FC 0-1 NEC FC

NEC kept their remarkable run alive with a hard earned 1-0 win over BUL on Tuesday at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The Diehards needed just one moment to settle the game.

In the 14th minute, Rashid Kawawa played a quick corner to Hakim Wandera, whose cross found Innocent Media unmarked in the box.

The forward made no mistake, heading home what turned out to be the winner.

From there, NEC did what they do best, stay compact and protect the lead.

BUL pushed but found no way through a defence that has become one of the toughest to break down in the league.

The result stretched NEC’s unbeaten run to 16 matches. They have also now gone nine straight games without conceding, with the last goal they allowed coming in February against Vipers. Their last defeat dates back to December against KCCA.

Narrow wins have defined NEC’s season. This was their ninth 1-0 victory, and 10 of their 12 wins have come by that scoreline. It is not always flashy, but it is working.

The win moves NEC to 47 points in fifth place. BUL stay eighth on 34 after another frustrating afternoon in front of goal.

Next, NEC travel to face Kitara on May 9, while BUL will be away to SC Villa on the same day.

Elsewhere Mbarara City edged Express 2-1 to keep their survival hopes up float.
