  • NEC FC 1-0 Mbarara City FC

Mbarara City slipped deeper into trouble on Friday night after a narrow 1-0 defeat to NEC at Phillip Omondi Stadium, a result that summed up their difficult season.

The game was tight with few clear chances but NEC found a way through thanks to their captain, Hannington Ssebwalunyo.

The goalkeeper stepped up to take a penalty, just as he did against URA two weeks ago.

His first attempt was saved by Stuart Hussein Kafuluma, but Ssebwalunyo reacted quickly to tuck in the rebound.

NEC had earlier come close in the 11th minute when Innocent Media struck the post, a warning sign for the visitors.

Mbarara City stayed in the game but struggled to create enough to trouble the hosts.

The win stretches NEC’s unbeaten run to 15 matches and marks their eighth straight game without conceding. They move up to fifth on 44 points, continuing a steady rise up the table.

For Mbarara City, the situation is growing more serious. They remain 14th with 17 points, just two above the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, BUL FC beat Express FC 2-0 at the Hamz Stadium while UPDF FC held URA FC to a goalless draw in Bombo.
