Five-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC found a quick response after Sunday’s  0-1 defeat to Gaddafi FC, with a 4-0 thrashing of Onduparaka FC yesterday at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Bright Anukani, Karim Watambala, Ibrahim Orit and Milton Karisa all scored to guide the injury-hit Venoms to a sound victory, much to the relief of head coach Roberto Oliveira aka Robertinho.

“We did not just win the game but we won with style and this has been my priority for the one year and a half that I have been at this club,” Robertinho noted in the post-match press conference.

“When you play on a bad pitch, definitely that is always going to affect the quality of the game you play,” he added in relation to the poor record away from home this season.

Anukani netted a penalty in the 23rd minute, and in 44 seconds, Watambala sweetly added a second for the hosts to lead 2-0 at the interval.

Orit then struck from outside the box with a stunner in the 75th minute, before Karisa chipped in a fourth in the 90th minute, taking the Venoms top of the log with 23 points after 11 games.

The Kitende side will return to action in an away fixture against Express FC on Tuesday while Onduparaka will host Maroons FC two days earlier.
